Apologies for being about three months alte with these updates. Styling fixes for Stormy Horizon and Upstream Tokyo are finally out. Problems with background coloring on trimmed advanced archive pages and comments are now fixed. I’ve upgraded to Wordpress 2.6.1 and K2 RC7 and everything seems to be working as expected.

I’ve got a few style fixes for Stormy Horizon coming down the pipeline, but I’ve got a lot of school stuff to deal with for the next few weeks, so they may not be out until after May 8. A proper gallery for the themes is also in the works.
Yes indeed, it’s that time of year again. Today marks the launch of my new K2 style, Upstream Tokyo. It’s back to a lighter palette, which will probably be a bit more seasonable in a month or two. There’s also a defined shadow around the content area, which is a new addition to any of my styles. This theme is compatible with K2 Release Client 3. Likely there will be a few small updates to the other styles over the next few weeks, along with perhaps some larger news.
Um, let’s go ahead and forget that that abortion of a fall theme ever happened. Back on Stormy Horizon, which should have a new release with some additional CSS fixes after finals next week. I’ll probably put together a nice winter-y theme sometime over semester break as well.
In other news, expect an attractive new front page for rcboyce.com featuring slightly more design work than a background gradient image.
K2 is hitting Release Candidate now, and there seems to be a need for some slight changes to my styles. As you can see on the blog, I’m working on a new fall-themed one at the moment, with fixes for the other three coming soon.
This dark theme thing is a bit more complex than I thought. :) Some fixes to comment styling in Stormy Horizon 1.1.
It’s time for another K2 style! This is a light-on-dark style based on a photo that I took last fall. This is a bit of a departure for me, being one of the only dark designs I’ve ever done. So if you think it’s awful, feel free to give me suggestions. It’s called “Stormy Horizon” and is compatible with K2 version 0.9.6. It may not work completely with older versions of K2. I’ve also updated Kyoto Sunset and Crown of Daisies to work properly with newer versions of K2, so if you’re running a new-ish release of K2, you should get version 3 of these themes. Older releases are still available for people running older versions of K2.
So there’s still no official K2 release for Wordpress 2.2. There’s nothing that I can really do with my styles to address this issue. Fortunately there is a plugin that disables the new Widgets feature of Wordpress that was causing the problem in the first place. So, if you want to use K2 under Wordpress 2.2, this should fix any issues you have.
The current release of K2 isn’t compatible with Wordpress 2.2 without a few hacks, and so my themes aren’t quite, either. I’ll have new releases within the next two weeks, but for now either hold of on upgrading or live without my themes. Sorry about the trouble.
In all seriousness, Kyoto Sunset version 2 is now up for download. Features should be the same as Crown of Daisies 2. (See my post about that release for more info.)
If you had trouble with the old zip archive of Crown of Daisies, try downloading it again.
Expect something interesting sometime in the future, since the college admissions process is all but over.
