I got my Sony MDR-NC6 headphones. Pretty nice headphones, although the noise canceling isn’t perfect - there’s a bit of hiss when its on. I’m pretty happy with the design and audio quality of the headphones. I think the real test of the noise canceling features will be on an airplane, though.

Some CD’s I’ve been looking at lately:
Gorillaz - Demon Days
Coldplay - X&Y
DMB - Stand Up
The Killers - Hot Fuss
Woah that was weird. When I opened up iTunes Music Store, it showed the Denmark store…. So I switch back to US store, then go to the Top Albums listing…. And I’m in the UK store’s listing.
So I commuted to ISYM jazz camp last week. It was fairly cool. A lot of the people in my band were from Champaign (I was lead trombone in the 2nd band, as always.) I had to do the commuter thing because of driver’s ed, and even then I had to go to the evening session. I was able to get a little more sleep out of it too. I was in the fourth combo this year cause I suck at improvising.
- Printer/scanner/copier thing. Won’t detect black print cart.
- Voyage 200. There’s something rattling around inside…
- iPod. I guess it wasn’t getting any power through the USB cable, even though it should work. Oh well. Firewire’s doing fine.
- ADDED: Panasonic multi-handset phone. None of the handsets batteries hold any charge anymore. As in, they can’t be picked up off the charger without dying.
I spent the last two days at the Senior State meet at Northwestern in Evanston. I did pretty well, dropping 4 seconds in the 100 breastroke and 9 in the 200, coming in 12th in that event. The trip also served as a college visit to Northwestern, which was pretty cool. The campus was really nice, if a bit small. The location right by downtown is a plus for me. I’m not entirely convinced of how good the engineering or CS programs are, but there was an interesting engineering/music double major program mentioned in one pamphlet.
Ok I’m posting this from Firefox running under Fedora Core 4 on my PC. Pretty cool. I found a nice desktop too. :P Anyway, the contact link above now goes to a page with a little bit of extra information, rather than being a simple mailto: URL. The standard anti-spam protections (hex and ampersand characters) are in place too. I’m having a little trouble getting GTK Radiant working right now.
My mom saw a thing in the paper about Elliot Chasanov (trombone prof. at the U of I) having a recital today at 2. So I went. But then it turned out that it was an ISYM concert (for the trombone camp during 2nd session). And that Chasanov was out of town and wasn’t playing. Still, the music was pretty good. All of the people’s solos except one were mainly melodic solos though, so it got kinda boring. It was also kinda weird seeing the counselors when I wasn’t at camp. It’ll probably be pretty weird when I go back for jazz camp too, even though I’m not staying at the dorms.
I got a nice new mouse. It works perfectly on the PC, and there’s just one small problem on the Mac: the included driver doesn’t allow you to set the scroll wheel (or any other button) to the middle click function. Which is pretty annoying, because one of the main reasons for getting the mouse was middle-click-to-open-in-tab, which I know works fine with normal 3-button mice. Maybe I’ll figure something out later.
I made some little changes to the template because I was bored. I’m not really sure that it looks much better, but oh well. Overall, summer has been pretty boring since camp. Basically all I’ve been doing is reading science fiction novels, playing Civilization III, listening to music, watching anime, practicing my instrument, and going to swim practice. I guess that’s more stuff than it seemed like at first, but nothing that’s really worth talking about. I’ve started watching 蜂蜜 ã?¨ Clover (Honey and Clover), which is amusing. Turn-A Gundam is also not bad, although the animation is pretty crappy. The whole thing with a Gundam running around in a world with technology at a WWI-level is kinda cool. Also, the voice actor for the main character (Loran) is Romi Paku, known mainly knwon now as Ed(o) from Fullmetal Alchemist.
